About this role
About the role: - Join Runable as a Software Engineer Intern with the opportunity to convert to a permanent position upon successful completion. - Work alongside founders and the core team on real engineering problems in a hands-on environment. - Contribute to building products, systems, or libraries that solve meaningful problems. - Tackle ambiguous challenges by designing and implementing working software solutions. What you'll work on: - Solve concrete technical problems during your time at the office, collaborating directly with the team. - Build features, debug systems, and improve codebases across our platform. - Take ownership of projects from conception through deployment. - Learn from founders and experienced engineers in a startup setting. What we're looking for: - Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals and software engineering principles. - Demonstrated excellence in at least one area: a gold medal or top academic honor, a strong track record in competitive programming, or meaningful contributions to open-source projects. - A concrete project, product, library, or system you have built that you can explain thoroughly from start to finish. - Ability to transform vague or poorly defined problems into working code. - Drive to take ownership, ask questions, and communicate clearly with teammates. Bonus skills: - Experience building or shipping TypeScript applications. - Background in backend development, database design, or distributed systems. - Exposure to AI agents, model APIs, evaluation frameworks, or sandboxed environments. - Track record of contributing to projects that are used beyond academic or competitive settings. Hiring process: - An initial 15-minute call with a founder to discuss your background and interests. - A full workday trial at our office where you'll work on a real problem alongside the team and get a feel for how we operate. Note: Email with your GitHub profile, competitive programming or open-source profile if relevant, and details of something you've built, what you owned, and why it matters. A short note is preferred over a long resume.
